Namma Metro Network

Namma Metro (Bangalore Metro) operates from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM on weekdays, with slightly reduced hours on weekends. The Smart Card is available for ₹50 and provides a 5% automatic discount on every journey. During the Bengaluru traffic peaks (8–10 AM and 5:30–8:30 PM), the metro is by far the fastest way to traverse the city, cutting journey times by up to 70% compared to road travel.

Majestic (Kempegowda Station) is the unambiguous centrepiece of the network — the only interchange between the Purple and Green lines. Planning journeys via Majestic allows access to the entire Namma Metro network without any additional fare premium. For IT employees travelling to Whitefield, Electronic City, or Manyata Tech Park, dedicated Metro Feeder Bus services connect from the nearest stations (Whitefield, ITPL, Silk Institute) to campus doors.

Carry earphones and ensure your phone is charged — the metro journey times can range from 8 minutes (short hops like Indiranagar to MG Road) to over 55 minutes for cross-city journeys like Nagasandra to Silk Institute. Free WiFi is available inside coaches on the Purple Line.

Namma Metro integrates with BMTC city buses at Majestic, Yeshwanthpur, Banashankari, and Baiyappanahalli. Kempegowda International Airport buses (Flybus) depart from Majestic and Yeshwanthpur, covering the airport in approximately 60–75 minutes depending on traffic. The airport Metro line, which will connect Hebbal to KIA, is under advanced construction and expected to open in 2026.

For North Bangalore, the Green Line (Madavara to Nagasandra) passes through the Peenya industrial area, making it heavily used by manufacturing sector workers. The Purple Line's extension toward Challaghatta serves residential colonies in West Bengaluru growing rapidly due to IT migration. Rental bicycles are available through Bounce and Yulu at several stations, perfect for last-mile connectivity in neighbourhoods like Indiranagar and Koramangala.
